Pictured: My (by which I mean technically my sister’s, but I use it more than she does) 2002 Civic named Pineapple. It has begun emitting noises, and the steering feels slightly odd at low speeds. Methinks it might be developing a problem again (a previous owner abused the crap out of it, resulting in un-Honda-like mechanical maladies every now and then) . But it’s thanks to this car that I learned to drive stick, so I still like it. And it’s a fun little car to drive. I like Pineapple.

H ad an 01' DX manual (the first year so some additional first model year issues,) but we had problems with the front struts which would cause goofy feeling steering and were clunky sounding.

Haven’t noticed anyth ing like that, the steering actually feels pretty good once you get going. But the steering feeling a bit stiff at first combined with a whining coming from the car makes me think maybe something’s wrong with the power steering, if this car has that. Or maybe it’s just belt whine.

Yeah, the clear coat on this car is roasted...

Is the steering stiff only in certain spots while turning it? I had that with my Mini and it was a seized u joint on the steering column.

I’ll keep that in mind, though I only really notice it when I’m starting from a stop and the car isn’t moving very fast.

Same with the Mini but if yours is stiff all the time at low speeds, I don't think it a seized u joint
